A Guide to National Intercession … Pray for our Provinces

Starting today, we will have 30 days of designated prayer for our country.

  • Whenever you come to a request for a specific province or territory in the daily list of petitions, remember these priorities:
Pray for the leaders of the province, that God’s Spirit would influence them to act justly, serve with integrity and honor high moral standards.  (1 Tim. 2:1-4)
  • Pray for the churches of the province, that they would be lighthouses beaming forth the illuminating truth of God’s Word.
  • Pray for the Christians of the province, that they would bear witness to the life-transforming message of the Gospel.

Day 1

  • Pray for an outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit on Canada.  (Joel 2:28; Acts 2:17)
  • Pray that the heart of our Prime Minister would be directed to do that which pleases God. (Prov. 21:1)

Day 2

  • Pray for the Church to make the Gospel accessible to all Canadians. (Romans 10:14-15)
  • Pray that Christian leaders would seek God’s heart for vision, wisdom and direction.  (Jer, 33:3)

Day 3

  • Pray for Alberta
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring conviction of sin and draw Canadians to faith in Christ. (John 16:8; Matthew 9:36)

Day 4

  • Pray for the preservation of Godly values in Canada (Pro. 14:34)
  • Pray that political leaders will be awakened by God to the right use of power and the right stewardship of their positions.

Day 5

  • Pray for Canada’s First Nation peoples, that the Lord will draw them to Himself. (Ps. 145:13-18)
  • Pray for the Lord to search your life, reveal anything offensive and cleanse you from unrighteousness.  (Ps. 139:24; 1 John 1:9)

Day 6

  • Pray for a more effective witness by the church in every Canadian community. (Deut. 4:6-7; Mat. 5:13-16; Acts 1:8
  • Pray for British Columbia.

 Day 7

  • Pray that the Lord will be close to the brokenhearted in our society and be their help. (Ps. 34:18; 145:14-16)
  • Pray for the staff and volunteers that serve in local churches in your city or community; that the Lord will anoint them for effective service.  (Rom. 12:4-8; Col. 3:17)

A Guide to National Intercession … Pray for our Provinces

Starting July1st., next Sunday, we will have 30 days of designated prayer for our country. A prayer map is on the bulletin board and we will have the weekly specific prayer for each day in the bulletin starting next Sunday.

Whenever you come to a request for a specific province or territory in the daily list of petitions, remember these priorities:

  • Pray for the leaders of the province, that God’s Spirit would influence them to act justly, serve with integrity and honor high moral standards. (1 Tim. 2:1-4) I urge, then, first of all, that peritions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
  • Pray for the churches of the province, that they would be lighthouses beaming forth the illuminating truth of God’s Word.
  • Pray for the Christians of the province, that they would bear witness to the life-transforming message of the Gospel.

Philippine  Educational Leaders Retreat

PRAISE: In late May, educational leaders  from the Philippines gathered to discuss the past, present,  and future of education in the Philippines. Educational  leaders representing Philippines Nazarene College (Baguio),  Visayan Nazarene Bible College (Cebu), and Asia-Pacific  Nazarene Theological Seminary (Manila) attended. Theological education is in transition around the world; the Philippines  is no exception. Give thanks for all those involved in  theological education across the Asia-Pacific Region, and  pray for leaders in these three schools who are seeking wisdom for effective education for a new generation of church leaders, both lay and ordained.

Finding Freedom  –   PRAISE: Dharmender from India married a  woman in 2010. His wife began exhibiting strange behavior, and he realized that she was tormented by an evil spirit. He went into debt trying to find a remedy. Upon the suggestion of his sister, Dharmender took his wife to a Church of the Nazarene near their home, and Pastor Amar Singh began ministering to the family. Dharmender recalled, “Pastor Amar Singh counseled with me first and then with my family as well. He started visiting our family with other church members and constantly prayed for my wife and my family until she got totally free from the demon.” Now Dharmender and his family are members of the church. Give thanks to God for such deliverance, and for Pastor Singh who was obedient

Missionary Moment – Prayers & Praise

In an airport in Ghana, an officer asked a JESUS Film team member what was in the duffel bag that had just been placed on the conveyor belt. The team member responded, “This is a projector system that has been donated to the church in Ghana.” The team member was sent to the supervisor and explained that the projection system was donated to show a film about the life of Jesus. Upon learning that the equipment was for evangelism, the supervisor said, “Very good, we need that here in Ghana,” then asked if the team member had prayed for the souls that would be reached with the film. The team member invited the supervisor to pray for that JESUS Film backpack and the people who would view the film. The supervisor was pleased to do so.

PRAISE: Give thanks to God for believers throughout the world who are willing to pray for those who do not have a personal relationship with Christ.

REQUEST: Pray for the safety and security of those who must travel and pass through airport immigration and security systems, to deliver the hopeful message of Jesus.

New Theology Book on Mission in Portuguese

Early in May, 75 people gathered in Lisbon, Portugal, to celebrate the publication of a Portuguese translation of Dean Flemming’s book, Recovering the Full Mission of God: A Biblical Perspective on Being, Doing and Telling. The book provides a Wesleyan-Arminian resource for theological education and preparing people for ministry; however, the content of the book is accessible to any reader. The 44 copies of the volume (Recuperando a Missão Completa de Deus) were not enough to meet demand, so more copies will be printed for the Portugal District Assembly in November. “This is a clear sign of how much people need meaningful and helpful resources in their language for themselves, and to serve others,” said

Nikolaj Sawatzky, Eurasia Region literature coordinator.

PRAISE: Give thanks to God  for people who serve through the ministry of translation.

REQUEST: Pray that readers will understand the mission of God through their study of this valuable resource, and find their place in missions.

REQUEST: Pray for more God-inspired writers who can articulate Wesleyan-Arminian theology in practical, accessible ways, aiding in the preparation of men and women for ministry and missions.
